Why spray on tan?
Spray on tan is one of the most popular beauty regimens today as it allows you to look good and feel great all year round without the risk of skin cancer and the ageing effects associated with tanning in the sun's harmful rays. TechnoTan speary on Tan solutions and products contain organic DHA and a range of naturally derived organic ingredients including Kakadu Plum Extract, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E blended to nourish the skin, whilst producing a natural looking and longer lasting tan.
How spray on tan works
Spray on Tan colours the upper layers of skin when the active ingredient known as Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is derived from Sugar Cane, combines with the Amino acids in the upper layers of the skin. TechnoTan uses the highest grade of Organic DHA available in Australia. TechnoTan solutions contain Organic DHA in a range of concentrations to suit all skin types and the depth of colour required. TechnoTan's 2 hour range also uses Erythulose to enhance the tan and assist in even fading of the colour.
Achieving the best results
For a longer lasting tan that fades evenly, it is recommended to thoroughly exfoliate before being tanned to remove any dead skin cells. After being tanned moisturising twice a day will slow down the skin shedding process, resulting in a longer lasting tan.

Pre Tan Preparation
Shower and exfoliate your whole body. Pay attention to rough/dry skin areas like knees, elbows, ankles and tops of the feet. Waxing and shaving should be done at least 24hrs before your spray tan. DO NOT WEAR any moisturiser, make up, deodorant or perfumes.
What to wear
When getting sprayed you may wear as much or as little as you wish. Most people wear just a G-string in order to get the best coverage. This is a personal choice and either way TechnoTan spray technicians are professional and will act in a respectful manner.
Post Tan
Shower as recommended after application. Between being sprayed and showering avoid any activity that may result in perspiration as this may affect the end result of your tan.

1. How does Spray on Tan work?
Skin is made up of two main layers: the epidermis on the outside and the dermis on the inside. The epidermis is also made up of layers. The deepest layer of the epidermis, called the stratum basale and the outer most layer the Stratum Corneum. Stratum Corneum is the layer that is changed by the application of Spray on Tan.
Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active tanning ingredient found in all spray on tan solutions and has been used in the cosmetic industry for over 30 years. DHA is a colourless sugar that interacts with the dead cells located in the stratum corneum of the epidermis. As the sugar interacts with the dead skin cells, a colour change occurs. This change usually lasts for approximately seven to ten days from the initial application.

5. What to expect when getting sprayed?
Your Technotan Spray on Tan will be expertly applied by one of our qualified technicians. The technician will advise you as to the best solution to use, either Flash Tan, Crystal Clean or Classic Tan, along with what colour will best suit you. It will take approximately five to seven minutes to thoroughly apply the tan and we recommend allowing 15 to 20 minutes for your appointment.
6. What do I wear while being sprayed?

7. What do I wear after being sprayed?
After your Spray Tan, it is best to wear loose fitting clothing that does not cling and affect the quality of your tan. It is also best to wear dark clothing that is easily washable to ensure that any tan solution that rubs onto clothing will not stain.
8. How do I prepare my skin for the best possible Spray Tan?
Ensuring that your skin is in the best condition before applying a tan will not only result in a more even looking tan but it will also make your tan longer lasting.
We recommend that a light moisturiser be applied to the palms, elbows, heels and any other areas that are susceptible to darkening from self-tanning products. The colour will develop over the next two to four hours, depending on the solution that has been supplied.
Before getting your Spray on Tan, we recommend thoroughly showering and exfoliating your whole body with our Exfoliating Body Cream along with our Sqiffy Exfoliating and Massage Products such as the Exfoliating Mitt, Glove, Sponge and Back Strap. To get perfectly smooth skin or to remove a residue from a previous tan, Sqiffy MicroFiber Body Polisher and Tan Remover will gently polish the top layer of skin to reveal ultra smooth and soft skin.
It is important when receiving your TechnoTan Spray on Tan that you do not wear any makeup, jewellery or deodorant as these can all effect the application and quality of your tan.
PLEASE NOTE: Hair removal is best performed 24hrs before getting sprayed.
9. Will I have an unnatural looking tan?
Typically, the orange tone that may result from the application of Spray on Tan is the result of too much DHA within a solution. Further to this an orange looking undertone can be caused by too much over-spray or if too strong a spray is applied on the body. By ensuring you only use quality professional products like TechnoTan, an orange undertone will not be a risk.
10. If I have sensitive skin can I get sprayed?
If you have eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis it is best to patch test your skin before deciding to go ahead with being spray tanned. If you find that you have not had an irritating reaction then it is fine to have a spray tan. It is important to make sure the skin is thoroughly moisturized after the application of the Spray on Tan as it will stop the skin from drying out and will also make the tan last longer. We suggest using TechnoTan's Full Body Moisturiser or our luscious Peach and Vanilla Body Butter.
11. Is it safe for pregnant women to be spray tanned?
There is no evidence to suggest that Spray Tanning women when they are pregnant is unsafe. However it is important to understand that when a woman's body is experiencing hormonal changes, the sense of smell can be heightened and the smell of spray on tan solution can be undesirable. Furthermore the hormonal changes can impact your skin in terms of its dryness and oiliness meaning that skin preparation and maintenance should be thoroughly managed. Also being pregnant can make a womanís body more sensitive therefore skin may be more irritable to the tanning solution. We suggest having a patch test before getting the full tan.
However receiving a Spray on tan is completely up to the individual, if concerned, TechnoTan suggest that you consult with a doctor.
12. Do I still need to apply sunscreen?
It is important to remember that Spray on Tan solution does not contain sunscreen and thus will not protect you from the sunís damaging UV rays. So, if youíre planning to head outside to show off your new glow, be sure to apply some extra sunscreen.
13. How long will my tan last?
Your tan, depending on your skin type, pre-tan preparation and after tan care, will generally last between 5 to 7 days for fair skin and 10 to 12 days for olive toned skin.
14. How long after my tan can I shower?
Your TechnoTan Technician will advise you as to when it is best to shower after the application of your tan. As the TechnoTan tan solutions differ, the time required for the tan to develop varies. If you decide to shower to quickly, this can impact on the quality and colour of the tan as well as impacting on the length in which the tan lasts.
Harsh body washes and soaps can affect your tan, hence the use of TechnoTan Tan Saver Body Wash is recommended. Between being sprayed and showering avoid any activity that may result in perspiration as this may affect the end result of your tan.
15. How can I extend the life of my tan?
To help your tan last longer and your colour remain fresh and vibrant, TechnoTan have developed a range of Tan Enhancement products. We recommend using TechnoTan Tan Saver Body Wash which is designed to be gentle on the skin even with regular washing. Importantly, using TechnoTanís Tan Extender, enriched with Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and Green Tea Extract, daily, will help your tan last longer.

PLEASE NOTE: Taking a spa or swimming in chlorinated water will reduce the life of your tan.
16. Do you apply TechnoTan to the face?
Yes, but this is an individual choice. TechnoTan is safe to apply all over the body.
